Dan Bader

CoFounder Bader Bros. & Founder of Auctioncheer, Inc.

1945

Served with 4th Infantry in European Theater during World War II; awarded Purple Heart. Returned home and resumed work with his three brothers. Married Ethelyn two years later.

1948

The post-World War II era saw a tremendous boom in the moving business with many families relocating to the New York suburbs as well as to Florida. A major factor in Bader Bros.' prosperity was eldest brother George setting up a second Bader Bros. headquarters in Hialeah, FL.

1958

It was during this time that the brothers would purchase a warehouse at 900 Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn which had its own built-in auction gallery. Then at the urging of Ethelyn, Dan tried his hand at auctioneering. "A Star Was Born"!

1988

After many years spent in the moving and storage business, the Bader Bros. sold their assets to the Smyth/Greyhound company. Dan would continue to do auctions for friends in the moving industry. One such auction caught the attention of a buyer who referred him to Keepers Self Storage. It wasn't long before he was so inundated with work, he persuaded his son Don to move from Atlanta in 1991 and go into partnership with him.

Things continued in an upward trajectory. By the time this picture was taken at a Bader Family Reunion, they had brought Don's nephew Patrick Williams into the business. Dan, now in his late 80's, would continue to be active but in a more advisory capacity than an active auctioneer.

2011

After a lifetime of hard work, service to his country and being a loyal family man, Dan passed away at the age of 87, leaving the legacy of Auctioncheer, Inc. in the hands of son Don, wife of 64 years Ethelyn, and grand-nephew Patrick.

2020

We are proud to announce the latest chapter of Auctioncheer's legacy, New York Storage Auctions, which recognizes the need for another option for companies to dispose of delinquent accounts and dead storage lots in the modern era. We look forward to serving you in both an online and on-site auction capacity. Let us know how we can best do so.
